Terms of Use

Time for the legal stuff..

In a nutshell, the brush sets available for download are free for personal use, but for business and commercial projects you can buy a standard or extended commercial license (see bottom of page).

When you download the free sets you are automatically bound by the follwing terms.

_________________________________________________________

Most of my brush sets are protected under a Creative Commons, Attribution, Non-Commercial license. Wherever possible please link/credit back to this site when you use the brushes.

You may re-distribute these sets for download on your own site, but you must mention my name, link back to this site and not take credit for the designs as your own.

Please make sure that you specify that the brushes are under a CC license (link to the license page here) _________________________________________________________

The CC license means that you can use the brushes for:

  • Personal blog designs
  • Design work for charity (though contact me first please),
  • Personal artwork projects
  • College or school
  • Other uses that doesnt make you or anyone else money

You can’t use them in any work that will make money. For example..

  • Business web sites
  • Web layouts or commercial blog themes for re-sale
  • Commercial blogs
  • Corporate logos
  • T-shirt designs
  • Re-selling the sets
  • Digital scrapbooking commercial kits
  • CD covers
  • Magazines, advertising or other publications
  • Business cards

For all these uses you must buy a license _________________________________________________________

Please note: Commercial usage of my work without permission will incur a fine and/or legal action taken against you.

If you would like to use the brush designs commercially…

Standard licenses

You can buy a standard commercial license. The cost is £5 per set, or contact me for special rates for multiple sets (5 plus).

Contact me to buy a license specifying which brush set/s you would like to license, and include your full name, business name if applicable, plus the email address you use with paypal. I’ll send you your personalised license along with a paypal invoice.

The license is valid for life, and is non-transferable to another individual or business.

The £5 standard license is limited to a maximum of 500 reproductions, whether in print on online. So if you use the brush design for digital scrapbooking sets, for example, you could only sell a maximum of 500 copies. If using the designs for print, you could for example, only print 500 copies of a flyer, CD cover, magazine etc.

Extended Licenses

For higher quantities of reproduction (over 500), you must buy an extended license. This operates on a sliding scale.

For print:
Up to 3000 reproductions, or use of the designs for business logos is £30
Up to 5000 reproductions of the design is £100
Unlimited reproduction of the design is £400

For web:
When incorporating my brushes into your own digital designs (online only), unlimited resale of your digital product (ie scrapbooking kits) is £100.

Remember that you are buying a license to use the design, not the design itself. I retain the copyright to the design.

Please contact me about extended licenses, stating your full name, address, and the usage you require.

  3. Hi Mel,

I love your Swirls and Seeds brushes and used them for a Portfolio Website project for school (I am a college student, majoring in Graphics and Web Design.) I am graduating soon and would like to publish my portfolio site for prospective employers to view my work. I don’t know if this falls under the CC license. If I put a link to your site on the main page, do I have your permission?
